Party size / shared failure / platform boundary

Two-player online co-op is confirmed. The full crossplay matrix is not.

Crimson Moon can be played solo or with one online partner. Official material also confirms a communal life pool and dynamic co-op scaling—but does not safely resolve every platform pairing.

The direct answer

You can play solo or in two-player online co-op. Co-op dynamically scales the challenge, and both players draw from a shared life pool. Local split-screen, cross-save and the exact PS5–Xbox–PC crossplay matrix remain unconfirmed here.

Team consequence

Every death belongs to the party

The life pool is communal in co-op. Treat it as a shared run resource: a risky revive, repeated solo push or mismatched build affects both players' chance to finish and secure discovered equipment.

Not an exact guide yet: pre-launch sources do not publish a final life count for every party size and difficulty combination.

Before you buy for a friend

Use the exact platform pair

“Cross-platform multiplayer” is not the same as a documented guarantee for every storefront combination. If your purchase depends on PS5-to-PC, Xbox-to-PS5 or Steam-to-Epic parties, check the launch-day support page or in-game invite screen for that exact pair.

Still needs first-party confirmation

The unresolved party questions

  • Every supported crossplay pairing and any opt-in toggle.
  • Public matchmaking, private-session and join-in-progress behavior.
  • Steam-to-Epic invite behavior and account requirements.
  • Local split-screen, LAN play or remote-play compatibility.
  • Cross-save, host migration and disconnect recovery.
